MILWAUKEE – (March 12, 2014) – Italian operatic pop trio, Il Volo, will be joined by the Wisconsin Philharmonic for one performance only at the Milwaukee Theatre on Saturday, June 21 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets go on sale Friday, March 14 at 10 a.m.
Il Volo, Piero Barone, 20, Ignazio Boschetto, 19, and Gianluca Ginoble, 18, formed in 2009 and first enchanted audiences on a grand scale with their rendition of “O Sole Mio” on the popular Italian musical variety show, Ti Lascio Una Canzone. The trio released their self-titled debut album in April 2011, where it debuted at No. 10 on the Billboard Top 200 Charts and has gone on to sell over 1 million copies worldwide.
Il Volo will be joined by the Wisconsin Philharmonic, one of the most seasoned and successful orchestras in southeast Wisconsin. Together, they will perform a compilation of Italian and English hits from Il Volo’s critically acclaimed albums.
The trio has been featured on such shows as American Idol and Entourage as well as performed in two highly acclaimed PBS Specials where, in addition to belting their Italian hits, they covered Elton John’s “Can You Feel The Love Tonight” and One Direction’s “Little Things.” In 2012, the group joined Grammy Award-winning artist Barbra Streisand as special guests on her fall tour. Most recently, they released Buon Natale: The Christmas Album in November 2013, which infused a host of Christmas standards with their singular blend of masterful vocal performance and youthful spirit.
Early this year, it was announced that Il Volo received two nominations for the “Artist of the Year” for both Top Latin Albums and Latin Pop Albums at the Latin Billboard Awards.
Tickets start at $45 and can be purchased online at milwaukeetheatre.com, via Ticketmaster.com or at the Milwaukee Theatre box office (500 W. Kilbourn Ave. Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.). Convenience fees may apply.
